Who We Are

St Bride’s Church, Manchester – A place to be REAL

St Bride’s church is a friendly, welcoming church in inner city Manchester where we all learn together to follow Jesus day-by-day. Our membership reflects the diverse neighbourhood of Old Trafford, Manchester.

We are a Manchester church who know God and want to make him known.

St. Bride’s church, Manchester core values are:
  • The Authority of Scripture.
  • Being a local church in Manchester – an incarnational model of being in Old Trafford.
  • Family – all are welcomed to the church and can belong, from every race and culture in Manchester
  • Being a worshipping church in Old Trafford – seeking and experiencing the presence of God through the Holy Spirit.
Our two main areas of work are:
  • Multi-cultural and multi-racial: To be a church that deliberately seeks to bring in people from non-English backgrounds; to win for Christ people from every nation, people group and language of the earth.
  • To develop relevant youth work through the Eden Team, and youth cell.
In spite of all out efforts to hide the fact, we are a parish church of the Church of England, in the diocese of Manchester.

Our communities in are more diverse, and our lives more complex, than ever before. But in the midst of our hectic lives, many traditional support systems have broken down! Many people in today’s world find themselves living away from family, in urban areas where it is difficult to find community and form supportive friendships. All the more reason to seek a place to be REAL.

St. Bride’s operates as one huge team.  We want everyone to get involved. But there are some official Clergy and Readers:
“I’m David, St Bride’s Curate – theoretically the Assistant
Minister, but we don’t have a senior Minister at the moment!
Heather and I arrived in Old Trafford in July 2009.  She is
also studying to become a minister.

St Bride’s is a really friendly and welcoming church and
Old Trafford is a great place to live!
God called me to become
a vicar after I’d worked for years in the Chemical Engineering
industry, so I know quite a lot about the world of science
and business as well as the Church.”
Hi! I’m Viv and I was born and bred in Old Trafford and I
got married at St Brides 40 years ago!  Now I’m St Bride’s
OLM Curate with special responsibility for pastoral care.
My name is Oliver and I am St Bride’s OLM Curate with
special responsibility for our Urdu speaking parishioners.

Hi!  I’m Sarah, one of St Bride’s Readers.  Besides
bringing up my kids and looking after my husband,
Mark, I love running our “Free For All” cafe style
services and am a bit of an expert on “Messy Church”!
I’m Graham, the other Reader at Bride’s, and I’m married
to Angela. Our daughter is 3 years older than our cat.
We use the leisure centres and sports barn regularly.
I work in the Town Hall (yes, really). We have lived in Old
Trafford , Manchester for 17 years. I don’t like waste.
I recycle our rubbish, and pick up litter – sometimes.”
